CPR Basics
A calm walk-through of hands-only CPR: how to spot an emergency and keep blood moving until help arrives.
What you’ll learn
Start hands-only CPR with confidence and the right rhythm.
Steps
- Check and call — Tap and shout. If there’s no normal breathing, call 911 and ask for an AED.
- Push hard and fast — Place hands in the centre of the chest and push at least 5 cm (about 2 in) deep, 100–120 times a minute, letting the chest rise back up between pushes.
- Keep going — Don’t stop until an AED or trained help takes over. Swap helpers if you tire.
